About Us (Learn
more about our boat and equipment!)
The
stage for your Charleston inshore fishing
adventure comprises one of North Americas unique and altogether
exotic environments. You will discover endless sweeps of shallow
water flats, hidden creeks, blue-green bays and wild, forested
islands.
The waters wreathing this semi-tropical panorama team with
redfish (spottail bass) the year round. April and May bring
higher (spring) tides which carry feasts to redfish feeding
in the flooding spartina grass flats. These tides provide
access into these green realms by boat, or my favorite way,
wading to the fish that seemingly beckon with waving tails.
This continues on into the early part of November depending
on the weather, always. The hard-fighting Jack Crevalle abounds
through the late summer months in Charleston Harbor, and speckled
trout, flounder, bluefish, ladyfish, sheepshead, black drum,
spanish mackerel, tarpon and numerous varieties of shark lurk
as well.
Into September and continuing with the cooler water as the
weather turns colder, the water clears, and the redfish get
into enormous schools. This makes it an ideal time from
October to March, to come and sight fish these reds, at the
best time.
Tall Tails Charters provides personalized fishing trips for
1-2anglers. Charter prices range from $350 (4-5hours), $450
(6-7 hours), and $500 (8-9 hours) respectively. A third
angler can be added to any trip for an additional $50.
We provide all tackle, bait, ice, licensing, and pictures
if you desire; all our clients need to bring is a good attitude
for a fun day of fishing in the Low country.
We will also be running a 23ft center console this year
for some near shore and offshore fly and light tackle trips.
The boat is a 2000 May craft powered with a 200hp Yamaha
4-stroke outboard, with all the amenities for fly and
conventional angling on our wrecks and off shore grounds. And
for our lady anglers this boat also has a head. Prices for 1-3
anglers will be $450 for a half day and $550 for a 3/4 day.
$50 for each additional angler (max 6). This boat will also be
booking for the 2006 Albacore Run in North Carolina, and the
Cobia in Beaufort and Hilton Head in May. Besides the fishing,
we will also do any kind of excursions you can think, from
Barrier Island hopping, harbor cruises, fireworks displays,
and some of the final Cooper River Bridge Explosions. You
think it up and we will take you there.
About
the Boat & Equipment
"Tall
Tails" is a
18 Guide\O'Bannon Edition with
a 70hp Yamaha outboard; its shallow draft, 4 3/4 inches, will
allow us to explore and fish in flats that are otherwise
inaccessible at certain tides. These amazing skiffs are built
by Hells Bay Boatworks,
in Titusville, Florida; check them out
under my links.
We
use Ross fly reels, along with Lamiglas fly rods, ranging
in weights from 6-12W. Light tackle is also another
one of our specialties. Spinning and conventional outfits
in the 6-12# class with light 7ft rods. We also have
some big boys for the Tarpon, Jacks, and Sharks. Capt.
Ferris is on the Pro Staff for
Lamiglas,
Ross Reels, Royal Wulff, Teeny Fly Line and Hells Bay Boatworks
Program.
